Three Palestinian Arab migrants were detained after illegally crossing the southern U.S. border earlier this month, according to a report by the New York Post.

The three suspects, who turned themselves in to Customs and Border Protection agents in the San Diego area, are being investigated for possible connections to terrorist organizations.

One of the suspects was found with a cell phone containing disturbing photos, including an image of a masked man holding an AK-47 assault rifle. The investigation has been handed over to the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force, which is now examining the potential ties to known terrorist groups.

Border Patrol agents, who are already overwhelmed by the high volume of illegal migrants, have expressed concerns about their inability to thoroughly vet the individuals crossing the border due to a lack of resources and access to international terrorism lists. This situation has been particularly alarming in the wake of the October 7 Hamas massacre, prompting heightened vigilance among U.S. border security officials.
