Top Democrats, including U.S. Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, have intensified pressure on President Joe Biden to withdraw from his reelection campaign, citing concerns he cannot defeat Republican challenger Donald Trump, according to U.S. media reports on Wednesday.

Schumer reportedly conveyed to Biden during a Saturday meeting that ending his reelection bid would benefit both the country and the Democratic Party, ABC News reported.

CNN reported on Wednesday that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has personally shared with President Joe Biden the latest polling data, which suggests significant challenges in his ability to defeat Donald Trump. The discussions reportedly highlighted concerns that Biden's candidacy might undermine the Democratic Party's efforts to regain control of the House of Representatives in the upcoming elections.

On Wednesday, Democratic U.S. Representative Adam Schiff joined a significant number of his congressional colleagues in publicly advocating for President Joe Biden to reconsider his candidacy. Schiff's call comes amid heightened internal discussions within the Democratic Party about Biden's electoral viability against Donald Trump.

Regarding reports on his recent interaction with Biden, Schumer's office responded by labeling them as "idle speculation," reaffirming that Schumer had conveyed the concerns and perspectives of his caucus members directly to the President during their meeting over the weekend.
