In his first telephone conversation with Prime Minister Netanyahu, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer insisted on "caution" in the north and the importance of a cease fire in the south to ensure the release of the hostages and provision of aid to civilians, according to Naharnet.

Starmer also stressed to both Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abass that the UK remains committed to the peace process and the two state solution and that it was vital to ensure conditions be maintained to secure that goal.
