Biden: I will veto law transferring aid to Israel

The President hardened his position, threatening to veto a law promoting the transfer of aid to Israel.

In a statement issued this morning (Wednesday) from the President's Office, Biden threatened to use his veto to block a bill transferring military aid to Israel.

GOP congressmen are currently promoting a bill in Congress, which also has supporters among the Democratic camp, which would force the US to transfer frozen arms shipments to Israel.

The bill that will probably be put to the vote tomorrow is expected to pass with a large majority. Due to the fear that the law will, indeed, pass, President Biden announced that he would use his veto power to block it if approved.

In order to soften American public opinion on a possible veto, the administration announced that it would send Israel aid worth about a billion dollars, including ammunition for tanks, tactical vehicles, and shells.

The Biden administration is under fire from home and abroad for freezing arms shipments to Israel in lieu of the operation in Rafah and has made no indication that it is willing to budge on the matter.
