Elizabeth Warren: "It will become clear Israel is committing genocide in Gaza"

Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren said she believes the International Court of Justice in The Hague "will find that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, and they have enough evidence to do so."

Senior Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren, who is considered one of the most prominent legislators in the progressive wing of the party, said that she believes that the International Court of Justice in The Hague "will find that Israel is carrying out genocide." Warren made the comments last Friday while taking audience questions during an event at the Islamic Center of Boston in Wayland, Massachusetts.

In the recording published last night (Monday), Warren can be heard being asked about the expected verdict of the Hague Tribunal on South Africa's charges against Israel. "I believe they will find out that it is genocide, and they have ample evidence to do so," she claimed in response.

“For me, it is far more important to say what Israel is doing is wrong. And it is wrong,” added Warren. “It is wrong to starve children within a civilian population in order to try to bend to your will. It is wrong to drop 2000-pound bombs, in densely populated civilian areas," said the Senator.

In response to the publication of the recording, Warren's office told Politico that she "was commenting on the ongoing legal process at the International Court of Justice, but did not share her personal positions regarding the question of whether Israel is committing genocide."

Warren, who has been increasingly critical of Israel, encouraged placing restrictions on US military aid to Israel back in January. "The US cannot write a blank check for a right-wing government that’s demonstrated an appalling disregard for Palestinian lives," she wrote on X.

Following the killing of seven aid workers last week, Warren told CNN that Congress “has a responsibility to act,” and “cannot approve the sale of arms to a country that is in violation” of US legislature.
