Foreign Minister Katz responded to Canada's decision by saying that "history will judge Canada severely" for its decision.

Following Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly’s statement that Canada will halt arms exports to Israel due to the war, Foreign Minister Israel Katz strongly attacked the decision today (Tuesday).

According to Minister Katz, “it is unfortunate that the government of Canada is taking a step which undermines Israel’s right to defend itself against the murderers of Hamas who committed terrible crimes against humanity and against innocent Israeli civilians, including the elderly, women, and children.”

He added that “history will severely judge the Canadian government’s current step. The State of Israel will continue to fight until the destruction of Hamas and the return of all the hostages.”

As reported earlier, Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly declared that Ottawa would halt weapons exports to Israel, a day after the Canadian parliament called on the government to do so. Though this resolution was non-binding, the government decided to stop planned weapons deliveries. Furthermore, this decision took place as the leftwing NPD party is pushing a law calling for an end to any exports to Israel.
