Russia fired a missile salvo in an attempt to kill Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Five Ukrainian guards were killed. The Greek Prime Minister, who was with him in the convoy, escaped unscathed, as did Zelenskyy.
Zelenskyy arrived today for a visit at the strategic port city of Odessa, which lies on the Black Sea. In an attempt to kill him, Russian naval vessels fired missiles at the city, though they did not know that Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis was accompanying him on a diplomatic visit to the city.
The missiles landed near the presidential convoy they were in, but Zelenskyy and the Greek Prime Minister, as well as their vehicles, were unharmed. Five Ukrainian security personnel were killed in the bombing.
This appears to be the first Russian public attempt at killing the Ukrainian President in recent months, as the Russian Army was focused on its counterattack, where it succeeded in driving Ukrainian forces from a series of strategic points. With the front appearing to stagnate again, Zelenskyy has once again become a target for Russian missiles.
