AP: Iran to Build Four New Nuclear Plants in South of Country

The total expected capacity of the new plants will be 5,000 megawatts, according to official state outlet IRNA.

Iran has begun construction of four new nuclear power plants in the south of the country, according to AP.

Official Iranian state media outlet IRNA stated that "The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran has set a long-term target of generating 20,000 megawatts of nuclear electricity in the country."

This construction raises concerns among countries who fear Iran seeks to build nuclear weapons.
