Syria's upscale Al-Mazeh neighborhood, known as the "southern suburb of Damascus," although not geographically located south of Damascus, is already considered a well-known target by the IDF, based on a series of large attacks that have taken place there in the past.

The southern neighborhood is considered one of the safest and most secure areas, with closed squares that include the headquarters of senior political and military officials, alongside the homes of senior diplomatic figures.

On Sunday, al-Mazeh became an area at even higher risk due to IDF strikes, which led, among other things, to the killing of several Syrian civilians and senior Hezbollah leader Mohammed Jaafar Kasir in early October.

The growing fear of further attacks has made the already sensitive area almost completely deserted of civilians. The quiet that has prevailed in the area for some time has caused the leaders of Hezbollah and the Revolutionary Guards to buy real estate in the neighborhood and live there.

Most of the ministries and diplomatic missions decided to convert their homes there, making the al-Mazeh neighborhood a real estate capital.
