The President of the State sharply criticized this evening Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's decision to dismiss Defense Minister Yoav Galant.

In a statement issued by Herzog, it was written: "The last thing the State of Israel needs right now is upheaval and division in the midst of war." The security of the State of Israel must be above all considerations.

According to him, "101 hostages are still in the enemy's captivity this evening." Thousands of daughters and sons of bereaved families mourn their shattered world. Many reservists bear the burden of defending the people and the homeland and cry out together with their families for broad participation from all of Israel. Tens of thousands of our brothers have been displaced from their homes for over a year.

He added: "We are in one of the most difficult and challenging periods we have ever known." We must not go back to the abyss! Israel's enemies are just waiting for a sign of weakness, disintegration, or division within us. The war is still ongoing and the objectives have not yet been fully achieved. Our sons and daughters are fighting shoulder to shoulder on the front, and the role of leadership is to act with great responsibility at this time.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke this evening with the Chief of Staff, the head of the Shin Bet, and the head of the Mossad. Netanyahu said in his conversations with the heads of the security branches that he expects to continue working together with the new Minister of Defense.
