According to the Palestinian Prisoners Society, Abu Khraesh is married with a daughter, and despite facing health challenges, he has managed to earn a high school diploma, a bachelor’s degree, and a master’s degree during his time in prison.
Juma'ah Adam has also completed high school and a bachelor's degree, and he is currently working towards a master's in political studies.
The two were convicted for their role in the firebombing of an Israeli bus in Mevaot Yericho in October 1988, which resulted in the tragic deaths of Rachel Weiss and her children. IDF soldier David Delarosa, who attempted to rescue the family, was critically injured in the attack and passed away from his injuries a month and a half later.
The third assailant, Ahmad Jibril al-Takruri, received a life sentence but was released in 2011 as part of the deal to free captured IDF soldier Gilad Shalit.
Officials from the Israel Prison Service (IPS) have strongly denied claims that the two terrorists completed their studies while incarcerated. They stated, "Since October 7th and even prior, under Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir's policies, a terrorist gets only a mattress in prison and nothing else."
