The IDF has deployed an M61 Vulcan cannon on Israel’s northern border to combat the growing drone threat, according to a Sunday report by Maariv.

The six-barrel, 20mm cannon, manufactured domestically by the Israeli Tamar Group, is capable of firing approximately 6,000 rounds per minute, providing a formidable defense against aerial incursions.

Earlier this year, Channel 12 reported that Israel was considering acquiring the Vulcan cannon system from the United States to enhance its anti-drone defenses.

The system has a proven track record, having been used by the U.S. to secure a floating pier in the Gaza Strip for humanitarian efforts and previously deployed by U.S. forces in Iraq, as Channel 12 highlighted.
