Israel has presented the United States with a new outline for securing a cease fire in the north which would allow residents of northern Israel and southern Lebanon to return to their homes, according to sources speaking to Walla News.

Per this report, Israel now demands the ability to allow the IDF to "actively enforce" Resolution 1701 to ensure Hezbollah does not build its arsenal back up or its terrorist infrastructures such as underground tunnels. This demand runs contrary to the resolution, which tasks the Lebanese Army and UNIFIL with ensuring this.

However, following the revelations of massive arsenals and terrorist bases along the border, the IDF does not appear to trust either in carrying out this mandate, at least at first.

US Envoy Amos Hochstein is visiting the region today (Monday) with the hope of securing an end to the fighting in the north, and this new document will likely play a part in such efforts on the Israeli side.
