Benny Gantz, Yair Lapid, Assassination Attempt

Gantz and Lapid refuse to condemn the Netanyahu assassination attempt

Likud accused Lapid and Gantz of failing to condemn the drone launch at Netanyahu's home in Caesarea: "Silence is tantamount to consent."

The Likud on Sunday attacked opposition leader Yair Lapid and the head of the National Unity party Benny Gantz for not issuing a statement of condemnation immediately after the attempted assassination attempt of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyau by a drone attack in Caesarea.

In a statement released this morning, a Likud spokeswoman said: "More than 24 hours have passed since the Iranian assassination attempt on the Israeli prime minister, and opposition leaders Yair Lapid and Benny Gantz have not issued a single word of condemnation against our enemies. At the moment of truth, they can't overcome small politics and big egos. Shame on you."

Likud added that "instead of doing the right thing, standing with the people of Israel and presenting a united front against our enemies, they choose to remain silent, and as we know, silence is tantamount to agreement. But it doesn't really matter. With or without their support, Israel will continue to win."

Lapid's party Yesh Atid hit back fiercly: "Today at 7:21 a.m., opposition leader Lapid was interviewed on Reshet Bet, condemned the attack on the Prime Minister's residence and said that it must be responded to severely, but the Likud, as usual, even during a national emergency, does not stop approaching, lying, dividing and inciting. It's a disgrace."
