A diplomatic source told The Jerusalem Post on Saturday night that Israel is planning to retaliate against Hezbollah for an assassination attempt on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, emphasizing that Iran bears ultimate responsibility.
On Saturday, a drone launched from Lebanon by Hezbollah targeted Netanyahu’s residence in Caesarea, according to the prime minister’s spokesperson. While the premier was not at home during the attack, and there were no casualties, the incident has sparked heightened tensions.
No warning sirens were activated before the drone exploded near the northern coastal city. While the drone hit a building in Caesarea, it has not been confirmed whether Netanyahu’s home was directly struck. Israel has insisted that the drone was intended for the prime minister’s residence.
"Hezbollah acts as an extension of Iran, which makes Iran equally culpable for this attack," the source said. "There will be a response to this attempted assassination."
