An indictment will be filed Friday against a 22-year-old Jerusalem resident from the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood who plotted terror attacks to avenge the residents of Gaza and support Hamas. The suspect intended to purchase explosives and firearms to target civilians and security forces, including an attack on a protest by the families of hostages held by Hamas in Gaza.

The suspect was arrested a month ago at his home in Jerusalem. During interrogation, he admitted, “If I had not been arrested, I would have carried out a terror attack and murdered a large number of people.” The investigation revealed plans for multiple attacks in Israel, including shooting IDF soldiers, planting explosives on a Tel Aviv train, and attacking a hostage families’ protest in Tel Aviv - all intended to maximize casualties and seek revenge for Gaza and Hamas.

The investigation also uncovered that the suspect had written a will and created a social media group called “Soldiers of God” to gather support. His attack plan was foiled before he could acquire the weapons due to his timely arrest.
