Drone strike? Never mind, Harris wants food for Gaza

Despite the deadly attack on an Israeli military base, Kamala Harris is more concerned with Gaza’s food shortage.

On Sunday, US Vice President Kamala Harris expressed concern over the humanitarian situation in Gaza, on a day when Israel experienced a deadly drone attack from Hezbollah.

"Israel must do more 'urgently' to allow aid in." Harris said: "The UN reports that no food has entered northern Gaza for almost two weeks. Israel must urgently do more to facilitate the entry of aid to those in need. Civilians must be protected, and they must have access to food, water and medicine. Humanitarian and international law must be respected."

The humanitarean issue also came up during a conversation between Defense Minister Yoav Galant and his counterpart, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.

Last night, Secretary of Defense Austin called Defense Secretary Gallant to express his condolences for IDF soldiers killed in Hezbollah's drone attack on the Golani base. According to a Pentagon statement, Austin reiterated the importance of ensuring the security of UNIFIL and Lebanese military forces, and reinforced the need to move from military operations in Lebanon to a diplomatic track as soon as possible.

Austin also raised the "grave humanitarian situation in Gaza" and stressed that steps must be taken to address it. Austin also reiterated the United States' "unwavering and enduring commitment to Israel's security."
