We can fly again! EU aviation agency rescinds recommendation not to fly to Israel at all

Airlines still have to closely monitor the situation for each flight and have a risk assessment in place, but the blanket ban is over.

The European Commission and European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) updated their travel recommendations yesterday (Wednesday) for airlines flying to and from Israel, ending a sweeping recommendation that planes not fly to Israel at all.

According to the updated recommendation, the "Civil Aviation Authority of the State of Israel has demonstrated its ability to efficiently manage the risks to civil aviation in its airspace to date. However, it is considered that the current intensity of the conflict and high level of tensions with Iran pose risks to civil aviation requiring adequate mitigation measures to be implemented by air operators."

Airlines are still required to closely monitor the security situation and conduct a risk assessment for each flight, a guidance which is in force until the end of the month of October.
