Staff Sergeant Noam Israel Abdo, 20, from Kadima Zoran, fell yesterday (Monday) in battle in the northern Gaza Strip, on the anniversary of the war.

Abdo was a soldier in the 17th Battalion in the radar training of the Bislach Brigade, and served as a soldier in the 12th Battalion in the Golani Brigade. He is survived by his parents, a brother and two sisters.

Staff Sergeant Abdo was the first fighter killed in the Gaza Strip in three weeks, with the renewed raid in the northern Gaza Strip. In the incident in which Abdo fell, a soldier from the 17th Battalion was seriously wounded.

Staff Sergeant Abdo's family hung a plaque in his memory: "Noam, our King, we are madly proud of you, your fighting courage and love of your homeland." Amir Gabay, his uncle, said: "Noam was a special child. Sweet and smiling, truly hardworking; he always wanted to go to the Golani and he fulfilled his dream of defending the people of Israel. He went on to the mech course with determination. We are a Golani family, his older brother Lidor was in the 13th Battalion and I – the uncle – from the 51st Battalion. The heart of the whole nation is bleeding, it's not simple at all. God will avenge his blood.
