According to local reports, operatives from the terror group intercepted Islam Hijazi's vehicle and unleashed over 90 rounds of gunfire at her after she refused to relinquish the donations intended for her organization.

On Thursday, Hamas terrorists fatally shot Islam Hijazi, the program director of the Heal Palestine organization, which provides medical support in the Gaza Strip, near a hospital in Khan Younis. Eyewitness accounts indicate that three masked Hamas operatives halted Hijazi’s car during the night and fired approximately 90 bullets at her while she was en route to visit patients. Reports from Gaza suggest that the motive behind the murder was the group's appropriation of significant portions of the aid and funds entering the region through donations.

"Islam was a mother of two young children, a compassionate individual with the utmost ethics and professionalism. She chose to remain in Gaza to assist others, often stating, 'I'm staying here to help our people,'" the NGO remarked in a statement following her death.

Iyad Khader, a resident of Gaza, expressed his outrage on social media, stating, "A mafia has recently emerged in the southern part of the Strip, engaging in looting, killing, stealing, and terrorizing the residents. A war must be declared against them immediately." Hussein Jamal, a political researcher from Gaza, added, "This is not an isolated incident. Civilians are murdered daily, yet it goes unreported. Hijazi was unfortunately well-known; otherwise, the details of her death would have remained obscure."
