In light of the security situation and tensions following the recent attack on the border in Lebanon, the chair of the committee, Yuli Edelstein, announced today that Netanyahu would attend the session, scheduled for Sunday between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM. This marks Netanyahu's first participation in a Foreign Affairs and Security Committee meeting in over three months, with his last attendance occurring on June 3.
The previous meeting was held in connection with negotiations for a hostage deal at the time, alongside the unveiling of a proposed framework by U.S. President Joe Biden. During that discussion, Netanyahu claimed that Biden only presented part of the framework, asserting, "After 16 days, we entered negotiations on the conditions for continuation."
"I will not be willing to halt the war. I won't detail the specifics of the deal here, but what the U.S. President described is not accurate; there are more details that have not been revealed," he stated. "We can stop fighting for 42 days to facilitate the return of hostages, but we will not forfeit a complete victory. The Iranians and all our enemies are watching us, wanting to see if we will capitulate."
