The Apollo Gold company from Taiwan denies responsibility for the pagers that exploded in Lebanon. The company claims that the product only had their logo and they were victims of the incident.

The head of Apollo released a statement to the press claiming: "We did not manufacture the pagers that exploded in Lebanon. This product only had our brand name. These products are manufactured by a European company called BAC. We were victims of this incident and we intend to file a complaint against this company."

The company added regarding financial transfers: "We gave permission to BAC to use our brand name to sell their products in certain regions. But the design and production of the products are entirely BAC's responsibility. The contract payment in the Middle East was made in strange transfers."

The company did not elaborate on what they meant by "strange."

Taiwanese police have begun investigating Apollo Gold company, as reported by the Taiwanese news portal, and Taiwanese authorities noted that the company did not export directly to Lebanon.
