Unusual Incident in the Netzarim Corridor: IDF: The Situation is Ongoing

Two Palestinian suspects attempted to infiltrate a UN humanitarian convoy. Normally, UN vehicles pass through without inspection, but the soldiers insisted on checking and asked the occupants to step outside. When the two refused, the soldiers fired in the air. The IDF stated: "We are currently conducting an interrogation."

An unusual incident occurred this evening (Monday) near the Netzarim corridor in central Gaza, and as of the IDF spokesperson's report, it is still ongoing. According to Itai Blumenthal's report, intelligence information received by Division 252 indicated that two Palestinian suspects had infiltrated a UN humanitarian convoy in the northern Gaza Strip.

According to IDF procedures, UN vehicles are allowed to pass without inspection. However, after the soldiers' insistence and refusal to open the gate, and after the occupants of the vehicle did not comply with requests to exit, the soldiers fired into the air.

According to Channel 12 News, additional forces were dispatched to the scene. The two suspects are still barricaded in the vehicle and refuse to come out for questioning.

The IDF spokesperson stated: "A short while ago, a report was received about Palestinian suspects inside a UN vehicle traveling in a coordinated humanitarian convoy to the northern Gaza Strip. The forces are delaying the convoy and are currently conducting interrogations based on intelligence suspicions. The situation is still ongoing."

They added: "We emphasize that this is not a convoy transporting polio vaccines, but rather a convoy for the rotation of UN personnel. The incident has not yet concluded."
