Egyptian Foreign Minister Bader Abdelatty strongly rejected claims of Egyptian involvement in weapons smuggling across the border and accused Netanyahu of constantly "torpedoing" possible deals in a statement today (Monday), according to Israel Hayom.

Abdelatty said that "every time we came close to an agreement in Gaza, we dealt with provocative policy meant only to bring about further escalation," in a clear hint towards Netanyahu.

He also said that "we spent an enormous amount of money on erecting a security fence and destroying tunnels on the border with the Gaza Strip. The claim that weapons entered Gaza from our side is entirely false."

Prime Minister Netanyahu is of a different view, arguing that the corridor was active as a smuggling route until the IDF recently entered and occupied the area. He has insisted that the IDF continue to hold the corridor under any deal.
