Iran has reportedly supplied Russia with ballistic missiles for its ongoing war against Ukraine, according to Bloomberg, citing sources familiar with the matter. This transfer comes despite months of warnings from US and European officials urging Tehran to refrain from such actions.

The provision of these missiles marks a significant escalation in Iran’s support for Moscow’s military campaign. Sources indicate that Washington has briefed its allies on this development, which is expected to lead to further sanctions from both the US and the European Union against Iran. These sources requested anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the information.

Iran’s prior support for Russia included hundreds of drones since the onset of the Ukraine invasion over two years ago. The delivery of ballistic missiles signifies a deeper level of involvement in the conflict. The US National Security Council has yet to comment on this issue.

The Wall Street Journal was the first to report the missile transfer, with Bloomberg previously indicating that European officials expected the delivery to occur soon. In response to inquiries, Iran's permanent mission to the United Nations maintained that its position on the Ukraine conflict remains unchanged and that it does not provide military assistance to any parties involved in the war.
