Iraqi drone shot down while targeting Haifa port

Israeli military intercepted a drone flying towards Haifa Port supposedly originating from Iraq. The IDF did not give exact information on the drone's location or give details on how it was shot down.

During the night, the IDF's Aerial Defense Array effectively stopped a threatening UAV/drone (or drones) that came towards Israel from the east. The UAV stayed within its own territory and did not enter Israeli airspace. There were no reported injuries.

The IDF did not give exact information about where the drone was targeted and its origin, or the method used to bring down the drone. A Shiite extremist group in Iraq claimed credit for the attack and stated their intention was to hit the port of Haifa. Social news and Jewish press reported that from Baghdad, on Sept 4 In northern Israel on Wednesday morning, the Shiite militia group, known as the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, asserted that they were behind a drone strike on Haifa Port.

The group stated that the attack was carried out to show support for the people of Gaza and promised to keep aiming at the enemy's key locations. Iraqi militant organization announces responsibility for drone strike targeting Haifa in Israel.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, a coalition of anti-terror combatants, announced on its Telegram channel Wednesday morning that they were behind the attack on the Port of Haifa, stating that it was done using kamikaze drones. The group stated that it plans to keep focusing on attacking and demolishing significant facilities throughout Israel.
