The IDF Prosecution has moved to extend the house arrest of five Sde Teiman prison guards accused of absuing a Palestinian detainee. This latest development unfolds as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged serious misconduct at the military detention facility.

On Thursday, prosecutors requested that the IDF court prolong the suspects' house arrest until at least September 5. The five guards have been under home confinement since August 13, following their initial arrest on July 29 along with five other guards. The charges stem from accusations of sodomy and physical abuse against a Palestinian detainee suspected of terrorist activities.

The case has drawn significant attention, with multiple IDF court rulings, including from the appeals court, suggesting that prosecutors possess more compelling evidence than what has been made public. Sources indicate that this evidence may include medical reports, expert testimony, and partial video footage of the alleged incidents.

Despite some ambiguity in medical findings cited by the defense, the prosecution appears confident in its case. The IDF Prosecution announced that it expects to conclude its investigation as early as this weekend and plans to share additional evidence with the defense team in preparation for a pre-indictment hearing.

The defense team is expected to challenge the continued house arrest and may seek more lenient conditions for their clients. However, given the court's previous rulings in favor of the prosecution, they may face an uphill battle.
