IDF investigators conducted a raid on the Otniel battalion base near Hebron on Monday, sparking controversy and prompting local residents to show support for the soldiers stationed there, as reported by Arutz Sheva.

According to one soldier at the base, the investigators were "checking logs and interrogating soldiers about the first days of the war." The raid reportedly involved inspecting weapons and examining events from the early stages of the conflict, particularly focusing on allegations of illegal shooting during the October 7 attacks.

The investigation has drawn criticism from local supporters and protest groups. Shmuel Pein, a protester at the scene, expressed frustration with what he called an "absurd investigation," contrasting the soldiers' immediate response on October 7 with the investigators who "sat in their air-conditioned offices or bunkers."

The 'Generation of Victory' protest organization also voiced concern, stating it was "unbelievable" that soldiers who haven't been home for months are being investigated instead of higher-ranking officials for potential failures and misconceptions.

As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the investigation.

The IDF has not yet released an official statement regarding the purpose or scope of the raid.
