The terrorist attack that claimed the life of a man in his 50s on Tel Aviv's Lehi Street last night (Sunday) has prompted investigations spanning both criminal and security angles.
During the night, security forces came to the conclusion that a mega attack was avoided at the entrance to the Bloomfield Stadium which was crowded with people. The police revealed a recording of a man walking with a huge bag on his back and at a certain moment, according to eyewitnesses, it exploded.
Ynet reported that the suspect exploded near a synagogue. A resident of the neighborhood who works at the Tel Aviv Municipality says: "The explosion happened in the middle of the evening prayer. There were about 80 people inside the synagogue praying. Just before there was the mincha (afternoon) prayer with 120 people. Just think if he had entered the synagogue. A great miracle here occurred here."
At this point it is still unclear why the terrorist exploded in an area relatively empty of people without causing much damage.
