During the visit, Gallant spoke with air crews and technicians involved in aerial operations across various sectors. The Defense Minister visited the Negev Air Force Base, home to the air force’s most advanced aircraft.
During his visit, Gallant engaged with soldiers, combatants, and officers on site and shared his perspective on the current period: "We are in days of both opportunities and risks. Regarding the opportunities, you are part of it because the opportunities are not only operational but also strategic. On the side of the risks, most of it falls on you and your colleagues – the air force and the entire IDF. This means defence, whether from the air or the ground, and of course the ability to strike anywhere. The IDF, through the air force and other branches, has the capability to strike anywhere."
Gallant also explained the enemy's objectives in these tense times: "We see the behaviour of recent days and weeks; our enemies believe that by applying pressure, they will first divide us internally and then from our allies. What we are seeing is a unification of the IDF, of the public in Israel, and equally important, a strong cooperation with the Americans and all our allies."
Finally, Gallant praised the efforts of the soldiers and the entire air force: "We have prepared the air force for such times, and you are carrying out this mission with pride and success. This gives me and other decision-makers confidence that we can continue even when the paths are dangerous. You are walking the paths, taking risks, but those risks are worthwhile for a worthy cause. The security you provide us is very, very important."
