Court orders house arrest for 5 Sde Teiman guards accused of abuse

On Sunday, an IDF court extended the detention of the guards until Tuesday following allegations of mistreatment.

An IDF court on Tuesday ordered the release of five Sde Teiman prison guards to house arrest amid allegations of abusing a Palestinian detainee suspected of terrorism.

The court's decision includes a mandate that the guards remain under house arrest at least until August 22. This extension allows time for a social worker evaluation and completion of the ongoing IDF investigation.

The court also noted that the IDF Prosecution has committed to providing the defense lawyers with larger portions of the evidence against the guards.

Earlier, on Sunday, the court had agreed to the prosecution’s request to extend the guards' detention until Tuesday. Concurrently, the IDF Prosecution has indicated it will not oppose initiating a social worker evaluation to explore alternative measures to full detention.
