Report: Iran may go after Mossad instead of Israel as a whole

Due to the lack of explicit support from Islamic countries for a general attack on Israel over the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, Iran is reportedly considering more targeted operations.

As Iran ponders its response to Israel's reported assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, the Guardian reports that Iran may be switching from a general attack on Israel to more targeted operations against the Mossad, which they hold responsible for killing Haniyeh.

According to the Guardian, a major factor in this potential deescalation was the refusal of Islamic countries to endorse a forceful retaliation against Israel, possibly in the form of a missile and drone barrage even more intense than the one carried out against Israel in April.

Meanwhile, Israel believes Hezbollah will retaliate for the assassination of the "Hezbollah Chief of Staff" Fuad Shukr in Beirut, though the degree to which they will coordinate with Iran remains in question.
