The Israel Airports Authority (IAA) has successfully completed a major renovation of Haifa Airport’s runways, setting the stage for new domestic and international flights.

The extensive upgrade, which included resurfacing the runway, reinforcing the runway strip, updating lighting, and re-marking the runway, ensures compliance with international aviation safety standards. Following a several-week closure for these enhancements, the airport has now resumed full operations.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has officially re-licensed the runway, clearing it for use. AirHaifa, an emerging Israeli airline, is nearing the final stages of its operational license process with the CAA, with an expected launch in September 2024. AirHaifa plans to offer flights from Haifa to Eilat and various Mediterranean destinations.

Last week marked a significant milestone as AirHaifa’s inaugural aircraft, an ATR 72-600 registered as 4X-IHA, landed at Haifa Airport, receiving a ceremonial water salute. This new addition, capable of seating approximately 72 passengers, symbolizes the beginning of a new era for Haifa Airport.
