Following Sinwar's Rejection: Hamas Considers Historic Decision

In the wake of Yahya Sinwar's refusal to appoint Khaled Mashal as the successor to Ismail Haniyeh, the militant organization Hamas is contemplating a historic decision to establish a three-person leadership.

According to Saudi media reports, Hamas is considering creating a joint leadership comprising Khaled Mashal, Yahya Sinwar, and Zahar Jabarin. If this plan is implemented, Mashal, who previously served as the head of Hamas's political bureau, would be responsible for representative duties.

Additionally, Saudi channel Al-Arabiya reported that Hamas has begun consultations in Qatar to select a temporary successor to Haniyeh until internal elections are held in a few months. However, Hamas leader in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar, has conveyed to the organization's leaders that he rejects the appointment of Khaled Mashal and prefers that his deputy, Khalil al-Hayya, be chosen as the successor. This preference is based on Sinwar’s desire for a successor with strong relations with Iran and Syria.
