In the background of the reports about "the day after" the war in Gaza, the Wall Street Journal reported that officials in the US, Israel and the Arab countries are marking the former senior Fatah official, Muhammad Dahlan, as the man who will rule Gaza at the end of the war.

According to the report, Hamas did not oppose the proposal, and expressed a willingness to accept it as part of the temporary solution to the cessation of hostilities. The issue came up between American and Israeli officials, and key figures in Arab countries.

According to the plan, Dahlan will supervise a Palestinian security force that will number 2,500 people in cooperation with an international force, after the IDF forces leave the Gaza Strip. The Palestinian forces will be inspected by the US, Israel and Egypt and will not be loyal to the Palestinian Authority.

Dahlan, who currently lives in Abu Dhabi, has been working alongside the United Arab Emirates and Egypt since the beginning of the war, assisting them in their efforts to rebuild Gaza. He also held meetings in Cairo with businessmen in an attempt to bring necessary goods into the Strip.

Dahlan himself commented on the report and said that "Time after time, different scenarios are presented or leaked to the media about the arrangements the day after the devastating war that is being waged by the Israeli occupation, and sometimes my name comes up to stir up some excitement. I have repeatedly declared my refusal to accept or perform any security, government or executive role ".

Dahlan added: "My colleagues and I emphasize again - we are only here to provide assistance to our people in Gaza, based on the long-standing support of the United Arab Emirates. Stopping the war is our top priority, and we will not support any option that is not within the framework of national-Palestinian understandings that will lead us to rebuild the system the Palestinian political system and the fulfilment of our people's struggles by establishing an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital."
