Cleared for publication: Intel officer dies from injuries in Nir Tzvi ramming attack

Captain Ariel Topaz, 24, from Pardes Hanna, passed away from severe injuries sustained during a July 14 ramming attack at the Nir Tzvi junction.

The IDF Spokesperson's Unit revealed on Thursday morning that Captain Ariel Topaz, 24, from Pardes Hanna, has died from severe injuries sustained during a terrorist attack at Nir Tzvi junction on July 14.

Topaz, an intelligence officer in the Research Division of the Intelligence Directorate, was critically injured in the attack. His family has been informed.

The attack also resulted in injuries to three other soldiers, who were taken to Assaf Harofeh Hospital for treatment. Eyewitnesses reported that the assailant ran over pedestrians before crashing into a bus stop.

The attacker has been identified as Muhammad Aaleb Mahmoud Shahab, 27, from eastern Jerusalem.
