Gantz: Government delaying hostage deal for "political considerations"

The former war cabinet member said that the parameters of a deal were already ready weeks ago and that delays are politically motivated.

Former war cabinet minister and State Camp party leader Benny Gantz released a statement today (Wednesday) regarding Prime Minister Netanyahu's planned speech to Congress and meetings with the Presidents and Presidential nominees, according to Israel Hayom.

He began by wishing the Prime Minister success in his speech to Congress, and in his meetings with the President, Vice President, and former President. "They are all great friends of Israel," he said.

Gantz also said that the current deal could be passed and was adopted weeks ago, and that hostages "do not have a minute" to spare. He said that the decision to delay the effort to seal the deal until after the Knesset session ended was "painful proof" that political considerations were informing how and when to agree to a deal.
