IDF: This is why the drone was mistakenly not targeted before striking Tel Aviv

The IDF completed a probe into the failure to stop the drone from striking Tel Aviv last Friday, citing a number of errors which are now being corrected.

The Air Force completed an investigation into the failure to stop the drone strike on Tel Aviv last Friday, citing a number of factors including the drone's unusual flight path and the IDF being focused elsewhere, according to Times of Israel reporter Emanuel Fabian.

Unlike other drone and missile attacks which were launched straight from Yemen at Eilat and which were easily detected and intercepted, the drone that struck Tel Aviv flew over Africa. It then went around the Sinai Peninsula and over the Mediterranean Sea, where it changed course and went straight for Tel Aviv.

The drone was then detected but not marked as a hostile threat since the IDF's focus was on drones coming from the east and south, not the west, and harmless detections did occur over the sea.

The IDF is now doubling the number of people manning the radar stations to detect hostile threats and has stepped up air patrols.
