The UNRWA organization is in financial collapse and on the verge of bankruptcy

The Lebanese newspaper Al-Nashra reported that the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, UNRWA, is on the verge of collapse and facing economic crisis. It is noted that several activists of the organization participated in the October 7 massacre.

UNRWA in Economic Crisis and on the Verge of Collapse

Today, Al-Nashra reported that the UNRWA, the UN's assistance organization for Palestinians, is on the verge of collapse and facing an economic crisis. According to a report in Maariv, a conference was held last weekend on the topic of donations to the organization within the framework of the UN General Assembly session in New York. The conference was deemed a disappointment and did not achieve its goals.

According to the statements of the General Assembly President, Francis, UNRWA's future is bleak and it is in serious danger. Francis stated that UNRWA is grappling with severe funding shortages alongside a campaign against it. The combination of these factors threatens the agency's basic support systems.

Despite its mandate continuing until 2026, according to Francis, UNRWA is on the verge of crisis and may cease operations as early as this year. According to Al-Nashra, Ali Khawwaidi, who heads Committee 302 for the Defence of Refugee Rights, stated that the conference results clearly indicate Israel's political achievements in terms of exerting pressure on donor countries and on the UN itself.

Khawwaidi added that this jeopardizes UNRWA's continued existence and immediately affects the services it provides to Palestinians. It is worth noting that following the horrific massacre on October 7, investigations revealed the connection between the assistance organization and the Hamas terrorist organization, proving that over 100 activists of the organization are defined as Hamas terrorists. Furthermore, several UNRWA activists even participated in the attack themselves alongside members of the Nuchba.
