In a move that further strains relations between Turkey and Israel, the Turkish Parliament has passed the first reading of a controversial bill targeting dual citizens who participated in Israel's military operations in Gaza.

The proposed legislation, backed by an Islamist party, seeks to revoke Turkish citizenship from individuals who took part in what the bill describes as "the genocide attack by the terrorist state of Israel in Gaza."

The draft law outlines a process whereby Israeli-Turkish dual citizens who fought in Gaza would be summoned to appear in Turkish courts within 90 days. Failure to comply could result in the loss of Turkish citizenship and the confiscation of any property owned on Turkish soil.

This legislative effort is part of a broader initiative by Turkey to prosecute IDF soldiers involved in the Gaza conflict, with particularly stringent measures aimed at those holding Turkish citizenship.

The bill's passage through its first reading signals a potential escalation in Turkey's diplomatic stance against Israel's military actions.
