Hamas, Hostages, Israel-Gaza War

Can we get the hostages back?

The continued pressure of both the IDF and foreign countries is starting to get to Sinwar.

Col. (res.) Avi Ka'alu, former head of the POWs and MIAs Department at AMAN, was interviewed yesterday (Wednesday) on Radio 103fm regarding the ongoing conflict and the state of negotiations.

When asked about the possibility of returning hostages, he stated, "The path to releasing hostages is likely only through negotiations. The return of such a large number of hostages will require a deal. Therefore, the system must work to exhaust every lead it has to ensure progress in this challenging process." He added, "Negotiation is a complex and evolving process. Sinwar's situation is becoming increasingly precarious. Yesterday, we saw Nasrallah's deputy indicating that a ceasefire would lead to an agreement –No one is rushing to Sinwar's aid, which creates a possible window for progress."

Regarding the fighting in Gaza, Ka'alu commented, "The focus, particularly on Rafah and the Philadelphi Route, are critical areas where Hamas can be pressured. This is what keeps Sinwar up at night. The negotiators increasing pressure on Hamas are creating a mounting sense of urgency. There are positive signs of progress in the negotiations."

Ka'alu concluded, "I remain optimistic and believe we should stay hopeful."
