Calling the decision to release the Shifa Hospital Director due to prison overcrowding a "serious error and a moral stain," the Prime Minister announced today (Monday) that he was taking a number of steps to prevent the repeat of such a mistake.

First, he instructed the Shin Bet Director to investigate the matter, and that a report based on the investigation will be presented in the next 24 hours.

Second, the Shin Bet will now no longer have exclusive discretion over who to release and when. Instead, a committee will be forced at his direction which will examine the release of prisoners who have been interrogated but not yet released. The committee will include representatives of the NSC, IDF, Shin Bet, and the Defense Ministry.
