An El Al flight traveling from Poland to Israel was diverted to Antalya, Turkey, today (Sunday).
As reported by Israel HaYom, El Al flight LY5102, which departed Warsaw earlier today, was originally scheduled to land in Tel Aviv. However, onboard medical personnel determined that due to the nature of the passenger's condition, an emergency landing was necessary.
"The decision to divert the flight was made to prioritize the passenger's well-being," an El Al spokesperson told CNN. "After consulting with the doctor who treated the passenger on board, it was determined that an urgent landing was essential for transferring the passenger to a hospital."
Antalya, a popular tourist destination for Israelis in the past, has seen a decrease in Israeli flights in recent times due to travel advisories. However, today's diversion underscores El Al's commitment to passenger safety, prioritizing medical needs over scheduled routes.
There is no update on the passenger's condition at this time.
