Eliran Mizrachi, an IDF reserve soldier was diagnosed with PTSD after serving in Gaza for 186 days. After receiving another call-up order, he took his own life last week. The IDF initially refused to give him a military funeral, stating that he had not been on active duty at the time of his death.

As reported by Kann News, his mother said that although he was injured twice, he stayed and didn’t want to leave Gaza,” she said. “He wanted to keep fighting to defend the State of Israel and bring back the hostages." His mother also expressed that he was not provided with adequate treatment for his PTSD.

Despite his dedication and extensive service in the IDF, he was not provided with adequate treatment for his PTSD, taking his life just 2 days before he was supposed to return to active duty.

His family fought for him to be recognized as a fallen IDF soldier. The IDF then agreed to give him a military funeral after consulting with Defense Minster Yoav Gallant and IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi.
