IDF establishes new southern border unit in response to October 7

The unit will be comprised of reservists from elite units who live in the Gaza Perimeter area and who are ready to be on call in case of an emergency.

The IDF announced today (Wednesday) that as part of its efforts to learn from October 7, a new border unit - the Lotar Otef or (Gaza) Perimeter Anti-Terror unit - will now be established.

The unit will be comprised of reservists who live in or near the Gaza Perimeter area and who are ready to be called up in an emergency.

Hundreds of soldiers have reportedly volunteered to become part of the unit and will undergo fitness screening over the coming weeks.
