The American Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Charles Brown, criticized the IDF's method of operation in northern Gaza, pointing out that it should have remained intrenched there instead of retreating and returning again. This is contrary to the opinion of the Biden administration, which supported the return of civilians to the area.
"The question about northern Gaza...When you really have to go in and clear every opponent you face, you have to go in and hold the territory, you have to stabilize it. The Israelis did not do this by leaving the territory after the fighting, they did not hold and thus allowed the adversary to inhabit it again and this caused a greater challenge for the Israeli army," he was quoted as saying.
