Opinion is divided in the political world regarding Defense Minister Gallant's statement today (Wednesday) that military rule in Gaza must be taken off the table as an option after Hamas is defeated.

Prime Minister Netanyahu said that "I will not replace a Hamastan with a Fatahstan," in reference to Gallant's plan to have Palestinian parties take over. "The first condition for the day after is to eliminate Hamas and do it without excuses."

Meanwhile, State Camp leader and war cabinet member Benny Gantz said that "the Defense Minister speaks words of truth - it is the leadership's responsibility to do the right thing for the country, at any cost."

Many on the right sharply criticized Gallant's statement, including opposition party leader Gideon Sa'ar, who said that Gallant's plan is dead on arrival due to being on the back of Israeli military support.
