Gallant: I will not agree to Israeli civilian rule in Gaza

The Defense Minister issued a challenge to the Prime Minister to declare that military civilian rule is off the table: "This is a moment of a national test, even if it involves a political cost."

Defense Minister Gallant issued a statement today (Wednesday), saying that at the moment there were only two options on the table - Hamas rule or Israeli military rule, neither of which he considers acceptable.

Minister Gallant's preferred alternative, according to his statement, is Palestinian parties with the backing of Arab countries. He called on Prime Minister Netanyahu to formally rule out the possibility of military rule in the Gaza Strip.
