Israel-Gaza War

Israel offered the PA control of the Rafah crossing

Mahmoud Abbas received an offer from Israel and the United States to take control of the Rafah crossing on the Gaza side, but insisted that Israel first agree to a ceasefire and the Arab peace plan.

The Sky News network in Arabic announced that the Palestinian Authority rejected an offer to take control of the Gaza side of the Rafah crossing which the IDF took over in recent days.

A senior source in the PA told Channel 12 that Israel and the United States submitted the offer to Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas but he refused, saying that he was not ready to send his men to Rafah as long as the war continues in the Gaza Strip and there is no chance of a ceasefire.

In addition, according to the publication, Abbas told the Americans that he would not make the move without the approval of senior Hamas officials because this would lead to conflict and bloodshed between the organizations.

Let's recall that in the past Netanyahu denied he would allow the Palestinian Authority to take over the Gaza Strip once the war was over. "I want to clarify my position - I will not allow Israel to repeat the mistake of Oslo. I will not allow that after the tremendous sacrifice of our citizens and soldiers, we will bring individuals who teach terrorism, support terrorism, and finance it to Gaza. Gaza will be neither Hamas nor Fatahstan," he said at the time.
