The Egyptian Foreign Ministry announced that it would support South Africa's effort to secure an emergency order against Israel from the Hague to stop its operation in Rafah, according to a report by N12 News.

Per the report, the ministry said that it is joining the request due to the "scope of the Israeli attacks against Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip, the destruction of infrastructures in the Strip, and the pushing of Palestinians to be uprooted outside their land, which has led to an unprecedented humanitarian crisis."

AP reports that a senior Egyptian official has warned that the Rafah operation endangers the peace treaty between the two countries, a threat it has made a number of times whenever the possibility of an IDF presence along the border was discussed.
